This sounds cliche' but I am on a weight loss journey.
Each and everyday I make decisions to either get me
closer or further away from my goal.
I know from personal experience that it is hard work losing weight.
There are days that I want to eat junk or to watch a movie instead of exercise. I have the choice to do those things, BUT I will reap what I have sown. I know that if I consistently make the right decision with my food and exercise plan I will, eventually, see that all my effort, intentional planning, and time spent was well worth the work.
Weather I choose to get closer or further away from that goal is a conscious decision I make everyday.
IT IS TIME THAT WE, THE BODY OF CHRIST, GET TO WORK.
WE ARE CALLED TO PRAYER.
Jeremiah 29:13
Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
“Thus says the Lord who made the earth, the Lord who formed it to establish it—the Lord is his name: Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
Prayer is essential. Prayer is hard work.
I am not talking about the quick prayers cast up casually as be go about our day.
I am not even talking about the in depth prayers we pray when we are in trouble.
I am talking about bending our knee to:
6. the Maker of heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them-
the LORD, who remains faithful forever.
7. He upholds the cause of the oppressed
and gives food to the hungry.
The LORD sets prisoners free,
8. the LORD gives sight to the blind,
the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down,
the LORD loves the righteous.
9. The LORD watches over the alien
and sustains the fatherless and widow..."
Psalm 147:6-9
Although, we may not see it we are in desperate need of God. We need to set aside time each day, without distraction, and pray. It is hard work but when we put in the effort, our intentional planning and time spent will produce results we won't want to miss.
Acts 2:17
"And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:"
John 14:12
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."
I have been challenged, by my mentor, to commit the month of April to intense prayer. I am extending this challenge to you as well. Although it is a lot of hard work; it is time that we step up and invest into eternity.
